What courses does JLA (JLA) offer?

JLA offers the following courses and programs accompanied with cultural and extra-curricular activities.

Regular full-time programs and part-time programs, full-immersion programs and tailor-made programs.

How long is the full-time program?

Our regular programs are either monthly or semester programs. These are group classes. Monthly courses are 4-week intensive courses that run all over the year. Semester I usually start in September and ends in December, while semester II start in January and ends in April. Students can always check the JLA calendar on our website, please click here.

Our Tilor-made programs are designed according to students needs and goals.

 

For the Full-time program, how many hours per week are spent learning Arabic in the classroom?

In semester programs, the courses are designed for 3 hours a day for 5 days a week. The monthly courses are designed for 4 hours a day 5 days a week (usually Sun to Thursday).

 

What do you teach in your full-time programs?

Our full-time programs include courses like all levels of Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), Media Arabic, Levantine dialect, translation, paragraph and essay writing, Arabic literature and many other cultural courses.

These subjects are offered according to the language proficiency level and institution’s demands. For example, literature, essay writing and translation are offered only for those who are intermediate level and above.

 

 

What is the duration of the courses offered by JLA?

The duration of the courses varies depending on the course type and the student's needs. Courses can range from a few weeks to two years.

 

Is airport pickup and drop-off provided by JLA?

Yes, JLA offers airport pickup and drop-off services to its students upon request.

 

What cultural clubs and activities does JLA offer?

JLA organizes various cultural activities and clubs, including Arabic calligraphy, cooking classes, and cultural excursions.

What is the location of JLA?

Are there any Arabic dialect courses offered by JLA?

Yes, JLA is famous for our strong Levantine Dialect courses. JLA also can arrange private courses in different Arabic dialects, including Egyptian, Yemeni, Syrian, Saudi, Iraqi, Sudanese, Libyan and others.

 

Does JLA offer Persian language courses?

Yes, all our Persian language courses are one on one courses arranged according to students’ needs.

 

Are there any scholarships available for students at JLA?

JLA offer scholarships to institutions but not individuals.

 

Can I take an online course at JLA?

Yes, JLA offers online courses for those who cannot attend in-person classes.

 

What is the average class size at JLA?

The average class size for the group program is 3-7

 

Can I take a placement test to determine my level of Arabic proficiency?

Yes, JLA offers placement tests to determine the appropriate level of language proficiency.

 

 

What is the teaching methodology used by JLA?

Our approach is mainly communicative. We believe in interactive and dynamic methodology.  It proved to be very effective in the development of students' communication skills. What is the application process for courses at JLA?

Is there a deadline for applying for the courses?

We have no application deadline; registration stays open until seats are filled. Therefore, students are encouraged to secure seats as early as possible. 

 

What types of accommodation are available at JLA?

JLA offers different options for its students including hotel stay, homestay with local families or renting a private room in a shared furnished apartment or a single bedroom apartment.

 

Are meals included in the accommodation options at JLA?

Meals are included in the homestay option only.

 

How to apply for homestay option?

Students who decide to live with Jordanian host families should fill the guest student form on our website under” homestay option”. Please click here.

We place students with Jordanian host families accordingly.  

 

What is the language of instruction at JLA?

The language of instruction is primarily Arabic, but English is also used minimally when necessary.

 

Are there any placement or internship opportunities available through JLA?

Yes, JLA offers placement and internship opportunities for their students subject to availability.

 

Are there any extracurricular activities available at JLA?

Yes, JLA offers various extracurricular activities, including cultural clubs and excursions.

 

Do I need a visa to visit Jordan?

Visas are required by all foreigners entering Jordan, these are issued at the airport on arrival for all non-restricted nationalities for the stay of 30 days (costs 40 JDs). You can check this link for more info.

 

Does JLA help in extending students’ visas?

Yes, JLA assists students in extending their visas under the local laws and regulations.

 

What types of payment methods does JLA accept?

JLA accepts payment via bank transfer, credit card, and cash.

 

Can I receive academic credit for courses taken at JLA?

JLA can help in arranging academic credit on an individual basis. If students are in a university or college and they like to receive academic credit at their home institution, they need to pass final exams for all the Arabic courses at JLA. Students should discuss in advance with their professor on their campus their desire to transfer credits and have the professor sign the appropriate part of the application form. Students may choose to be graded on an A, B, C, D, F scale, or PASS/FAIL.

A written summary of course work and individual achievement will be provided for any student applying for university credit. We can provide your home institution with course syllabi, course descriptions, and course schedules to help them approve the classes. Once you have begun taking courses in JLA we can continue to communicate with your home institution with attendance sheets, grades, and progress reports. And finally, upon course completion, an official transcript is provided.
